The client's fully custom-built site ran on an outdated design with cumbersome admin-side usability, making a replacement urgent. The biggest challenge was migrating the enormous volume of data – not only because of its sheer amount, but also because of the completely different storage structure. Alongside the rewrite there was demand for a comprehensive reform: fine-tuning the search, building custom reports and implementing a complex article-lifecycle workflow.

We moved the system onto Ibexa DXP, with the Solr search natively supported by Ibexa, and built the front-end with the Symfony UX React package and React.js components. We had to rewrite Ibexa's robust system almost entirely in several places: because of the large content volume we wrote custom Solr queries instead of the Ibexa search API, used direct MySQL queries instead of Ibexa's native classes to save resources, and completely rewrote the Ibexa dashboard for the custom reports. We supported the large-scale data migration with n8n, and implemented the specific article-lifecycle logic by rewriting Ibexa's workflow solutions.
